At my work they expect a car at least every 20 minutes if not faster but it’s also a rental company so it’s mostly about the sanitizing and a wuick wipe over any really dirty spots and the exterior and more haha it’s very busy at my work

That sounds highly stressful man, it’s a lot of pressure to do that in just two hours.

Working at a dealership I’m no stranger to being in a rush lol, that’s every car, most of the time they want a full interior and exterior in less than 2 hours, it’s nuts.

Yeah man, the mistake I made was spending too much time on the seats, there were a lot worse than I thought and the customer needed the van back by a certain time so I was definitely in a rush because I felt very behind on schedule

Customers happy, you’re happy, and as long as you learn from it and try and implement something so things don’t get missed in future seems a good outcome to me.

I can definitely clean the vents again, yes it was just some dust I didn’t blow out with steam.

As for the hood, dude is a heavy smoker by the looks of it, there’s still a lot that could be done in the vehicle but I was only paid to do the steam cleaning, I did say that a full detail would definitely help more with the scent and stains and he did seem interested.

Best to just go back and clean the vent or the hood spot rather than give away a free service.

Could make that money back in the future when they wanted their engine done.

I assume you mean some dirt/dust inside the A/C vents?

They don't understand the time involved on working on vehicles. They think your 5 hrs includes 4 and a half hours of waiting in line.

I had a couple with three kids drop off their minivan. I told them a minimum of three hours. When the wife dropped it off I was like, 'yeah... I'm gonna need as much time as I can get to make this look good'..
She says, 'oh, I though it was going to take like an hour'.

 I hate when that happens lol. This customer I had was really cool and understanding.

But a couple of weeks ago I had a woman, one of my neighbors drop her car by for a full interior detail, I told her it’ll be ready in 5hrs.

For some reason she felt the need to come by like every half an hour and check on me, then she waited for like an hour and said that I was taking really long, I was like yeah I did say 5hrs. 

She eventually just went home and when I finished I just dropped it for her, it did indeed take exactly five hours.

Lol same thing happened to me, told client it was gonna be 3-4 hour for a king ranch, got it done within that time but he came out the last 30 mins waiting for me to finish because he needed the truck, so I missed a piece of buildup on one window on the interior I was pissed but he was fine with it so had to just learn to do quality check before leaving lol

Just one tip with professional dealings is I would try to work on being as grammatically correct as possible, also don’t tell the customer to remind you of anything. Build a customer file and note it in the file, they will forget to remind you and still blame you when the service they expect wasn’t given to them

I’ll keep this in mind. I do have a “customer” like that, my mom lmao

You’re going to make mistakes along the way, yes you handled it well and luckily this customer was very understanding. But like another user said you should immediately offer to go fix the issue and then they basically have no reason to complain. I always tell my customers when they pick up their vehicle “If anything isn’t perfect please don’t hesitate to let me know!” And rarely they do but always they already know I’m gonna fix it so they aren’t freaking out. When you run into a customer who loses it over one stain you’ll know what I mean lol
