[PC][~2007] Girls Virtual World Game with Halloween Mini Game
Platform(s): PC game playable through web browser. i'm assuming it probably used flashplayer due to the time period I played it.
Genre: Virtual world. The visuals were in 3rd person. Geared towards kids, mainly young girls.
Estimated year of release: I'm going to say between 2005-2008.
Graphics/art style: 2d graphics, very cartoonish. There was a decent amount of detailing and shading in the rendering, so there was some depth to it, but still 2d. I remember it being a little similar to movie star planet, with different rooms filled with different players avatars walking around. In comparison to movie star planet, though, the characters were much smaller on screen. The colors were vibrant and the different locations you could visit were decorated very cutely.
Notable characters: You play as a girl (I'm like 99% sure there wasn't a boy option), and i'm fairly certain avatars were customizable. I remember characters having lots of colorful hair and very early 2000s outfits and hairstyles.
Notable gameplay mechanics: Gameplay was pretty standard for 2000s virtual world games for kids. There were different locations you could visit, meet other people, chat limitedly, and play mini games. You could buy clothes for your avatar and customize it, as well as a space of your own.
The thing that sticks out and makes me remember this specific site, though, is that during halloween season, users could "trick" other players, giving them a scary or ugly costume, or "treat" them, giving them a cute costume.
Other details: I am mainly making this post because of the trick or treat feature. I've been scouring the internet and it seems like there's no trace of it at all 😭 I kind of suspect it could be the barbie girls website, but there red literally no info online about any halloween promotions or gameplay :-(
