how would you answer this final interview question?

One of the weirdest questions asked to me during a final interview. It's been 4 years since I was asked this but until now di ko pa rin alam kung pinagtripan lang ba ko nung naginterview o kung may point ba talaga ung tanong na di ko lang nagets.

Question: You started dating one of your co-workers and your teammates found out. Pinagtsismisan ka nila and started spreading rumors about you. How will you handle this situation?

I assumed it was like a behavioral question so my answer revolved around communicating with my teammates and maintaining professionalism kasi nothing wrong naman with dating a co-worker as long as you both stay professional sa work (???sabi ko. mali ba to hahah). The interviewer didn't look satisfied and repeated the question twice and parang with emphasis dun sa part na you're dating a co-worker. I was really confused. I'm not good at interviews pero naiiraos ko naman but this one talaga di ko gets hahaha. It felt more like a personal question than a work-related one.

I got the job naman but until now I still think about that question and the interviewer's reaction and wonder what I should have answered instead haha.
