Simple answer: you don’t. MTL requires a lot of work to look decent, not even good, it is not just copy and press a button. And editing MTL to be almost good? Dozens of hours of work for a single book.

Instead of doing it yourself, look for titles that have people doing it already, as they have the experience.

Copy paste into DeepL. Might need to pay for their service. It's better to first use find/replace to replace vocabulary katakana stuff so it doesn't get mangled and translated inconsistently

How do you MTL something yourself?

I've tried before but it didn't really work.

MT is pretty bad and will rot your brain, so just read something else or find the fan TL of WN/LN

DeepL is more readable than Google Translate but it has its own class of problems (skipping entire phrases or outputting looped phrases)

Best compromise are edited MTL, at least it doesn't hurt to read

go and make a pickup request on novelupdates

or self translate

or learn japanese

I use deepl but I translate it sentence by sentence since it gives you alternate choices for translation if it comes across as awkward. It can take a lot of time depending on how lengthy and verbose the prose is, but it gets the job done if you’re patient enough

U patiently or irritably wait like a good boi avoiding spoilers like they corona virus

give up, i'll leave the work to the future translator

You don't. Trying to use a machine translator to read a novel will completely ruin the experience. You can find fan-translations of varying quality on places like NovelUpdates, ranging from extremely well done (Death Mage) to complete garbage that hurts to read (most series).

The LN I'm currently reading is in book walker, it is a good place, at least for what I see it has a lot of stuff. I hope it also is useful for you.

I buy my raw digital volumes from [Honto](https://honto.jp/). You can use a foreign email address and credit card with no problem and they often give out coupons. The only downside is that the DRM is impossible to get around, but if you're just looking to read stuff in Japanese and support the authors by getting the raws, it's great.

I wanted to know the opposite, how to get the Light Novels in Japanese (RAW), pretty much everywhere is translated already, none in Japanese

I was wondering what translator or "thing" you use for these cases. For example maybe an application or something like in the case of visual novels that can translate what the game is showing but you know for LN.

What do you do for light novels in Japanese when you don't know the language?
