I’m almost 44 and was born here, never left. I meet more locals than transplants when I go out. I don’t think it’s weird, and none of us are ever really surprised when we meet. I’m not sure what your accent has to do with anything bc theres always been a myriad of accents among native Nashvillians. What I do find surprising is when someone around my age tells me they weren’t born at Baptist, but rather Vanderbilt or St. Thomas. Baptist was always the place for birthin’ babies.

I was born and raised in Nashville. It is weird to me that everyone asks me, "Where are you from?", and are surprised when I say, "here". I have lived here 38 years. I think its because I have a thick accent [that people don't believe me].

I gave it a shot.

People are surprised when I tell them I was born and raised in Nashville. I attribute their surprise to my thick accent.

I never think I’ve an accent until I’m on the phone with college friends and they chuckle when I say Yale. I guess I say Yay-yule lol it’s so fvcking stupid. Anyway yeah people and places and their small differences it’s all really annoying.

I'm the opposite. I live outside the city born and raised and get asked where I'm from due to lack of accent.
