He looks like he is getting in trouble right now.

And on the air side with that hippie haircut.

Went through some shit and needed to blow off some steam when he got back state side. Probably the guy you want next to you when the shit goes down

Yes looks like maybe a picture taken right after an Article 15 demotion?

Been to combat, got in trouble a few times, can’t shoot a pistol very well.

He did some real service based on the ribbons. But likely knew what an Article 15 was based on the rank.

For the unknowing, terminal lance is an online comic book about being a marine.

He was an 8 year lance corporal in the marines

I was out drinking with the above mentioned E-6 and his brother. His brother tried to joke about retiring as an E-9 while the other retired as E-6 and E-6 shot back with, "Yeah because you never got caught when you were selling meth to everyone at Pendleton in the 90s."

The look on dude's face basically said, *I thought we agreed we would never mention that.*

He was an outstanding Marine and made it a full 30 years but in his old pics from the 90s he does look a little meth-y.

I had a SSGT who was arrested on base because PMO found him trying to deal drugs. He went to the brig that night as a SNCO and came back 45 days later as a LCpl.

Actually no idea, but I know someone that got frozen at E-6 after getting caught for infidelity on deployment and he managed to squeeze out another five years to retire with a full 20.

I don't think you'd see that today though.

Does anyone actually remember who this Marine is? Why did he get busted down?

It's a meme pic of a guy who has been in for 8 years (the two diagonal stripes on his sleeve each represent 4 years of service) but his rank is LCpl, meaning that after 8 years he is still only at the rank you would typically achieve within the first year or two of active duty.

Usually means he got a reduction in rank or barred from advancing due to misbehaving.

Looks like Achievement Medal with two stars - so 3 awards

or possibly a combat V too

Looks like your dad knew how to party based on the two service stripes and being an E-3. The ribbons show that he has seen some stuff as well. I can't make out the single ribbon on the fourth row though.

He fucked, not fucked like he’s a badass, but fucked strippers at the local club.

It's more fun to think he made Corporal twice and lost it twice for stupid things.

He was probably an E5 or E6 who got busted down for something Heinous.

Probably asked the B.C. how much he lost in a coin toss during his NJP hearing as well.

Saw several Marines like this in my time. Put them in the field and the were stellar. Out of the field they were an NJP looking for a place to happen.

I wouldn’t talk about it much with if I had that pizza box hanging off my chest either! 😜

To be honest, when I first looked at the pic. I thought this was a Stolen Valor pic but the uniform looks to squared away and clean.

You achieve rank and then get busted down for having too much fun. This is a meme post, so not actually my dad. The rank and time in service is the joke.

I’m confused , I’m a boot and I ship in 3 months . But aren’t PVT,PFC, and LCPL time and grade ? How could he possibly not have ranked up in 6 1/2 years ?

This is a meme post and not actually my dad, but I doubt it based on his perceived age with two service stripes. I'm not familiar with USMC reenlistment though.

Could he be prior service who re-enlisted after a break long enough to lose rank?

Can anyone tell me more about my Dad's uniform and what it means? He's always been pretty closed off about his time in the military.
