My oldest went to daycare from about 10 weeks old to 9 months old. She was sick AT LEAST every other week - colds, RSV, and the straw that that broke the camel's back - norovirus. Since we took her out of daycare, she's been sick once, with COVID that my husband accidentally brought home with him from a work conference. She just turned 2.

I pulled mine for a few months when I had my 2nd baby and my toddler was still sick every other week. So I put him back in lol

I am wondering the same thing sometimes, just about preK. I guess, think if you feel there's any benefit to the center where you are? My son is sick half of every \*(@& week and feels so (understandably) grouchy, when he was really a quite calm kid before. I'm so exhausted working from home, and catching the colds myself is not helping anything. But...my son has really benefitted from starting pre-k, he's learning lots of new stuff and becoming more social, so, so far, I think I'll keep him in unless it gets really bad.     So I guess weigh the good and bad? Either way, I hear you, it's really rough and seems so hard on all of us!      The only thing that seems to have helped among other moms I know is when their kids are in a daycare or preK with more outdoor time/open windows, they seem to be getting sick less, but depending on the climate where you are, that might not be available. yea people are quick to blame daycare but they are building their immune system all kids go through this

We were in a home daycare for a while and my sone was sick every other week for 6 months. I moved him to a centre and he’s less sick (also older now) but I had the opposite experience. Kids just get sick.

We had nonstop sickness once my daughter started daycare. She took a week off for a summer holiday and since then we’ve only had a couple minor things (actually Covid currently, but it’s mild for her and she didn’t bring it home). I think she just needed a break for her immune system to rebound. I’d try a week off and see if that helps before making any big moves.

They will get sick less if they don't go to daycare. But they might also get sick in a home daycare depending on how many kids there are and what rules there are regarding sick kids.

Has anyone pulled their kids out of daycare and noticed a significant drop in how much they get sick? Long story short my 2.5 year old has been in daycare since feb and the last month and a half has been back to back colds. It is really putting a toll on us since my husband and I both work and as do our parents. My mom suggested taking them out and putting her in a home daycare with less kids or getting a nanny. I perfer a daycare setting but am not sure if thats the best thing for her. She has a 1.5 year old brother who also gets sick (but not as long or as bad- she seems more prone/weaker if that makes any sense at all). Im thinking this is just a phase as it is just that time of year. She has been sick throughout the year since she started back in Feb but this last few months have been rough. Anyone been in the same boat? Should i pull them out or stick it out?
