to the great smoky mountains in North Carolina, US.
I grew up only an hour or so from it and every year or so my family would go and we would visit the same stores over and over in the same town. We only ever went to that town and stayed in that town and visited the stores in that town. And every store is the same. So imagine looking at the same crap in 20 stores over and over again.
I didn't have great expectations, but Ottawa still managed to disappoint more than anywhere else. I left a four day trip, two days early. The most boring city imaginable.

Mexican cruise on the Pacific side. Passengers just got drunk and stayed drunk the whole time, to keep things "safe" there were soldiers and police with machine guns in the back of pickup trucks patrolling. around the ports there was an oily pollution sheen in the water.
Vancouver, BC. I was just at the start of the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome that I'm still dealing with. So we'd go out for a meal and then I'd need to go back to the hotel and rest. I remember watching a documentary on The Mamas & the Papas in the hotel room. The sun came out from behind the clouds once while we were out and we could see mountains for 5 or 10 minutes. That was nice.
The golden Bridge in Da Nang, Vietnam. Advertise as a beautiful bridge in the area. Actually a mini attraction in a big amusement park nobody tells you about. Big tourist trap.
