Almost 3 months of being clean.
š£"Recovery is like walking up a downward escalator. If you are not moving foward, your mind will naturally take you back down to your addictive using."
ā«Im M24. This is The longest Ive ever been clean In my 14 Years of Addiction. The book Staying Sober by Terence T.Gorski has help me alot in reaching this far.
ā«It discusses a recovery program which is a routine that is design to manage your withdrawl symptoms.
ā«And relapse prevention planning which is a written plan discussing your emotions and your warning signs of relapse and what do to if you find yourself moving back to addictive using.
The key is to
-
Write down your triggers and how to actively avoid them
-
Your relapse prevention planning is where you are aware of your emotions especially stress and you have an action plan as to how to deal with each emotion.
Eg. Tired = take a short nap for 30 minutes Sad = listen to your favourite music Aroused = Go for a walk and turn off your phone Stressed = Learn how to solve the situation that is causing the stress instead of seeking pleasure to numb pain
You see? Each emotion must be dealt with accordingly
- Stick to a recovery program which is a daily schedule that you have to follow. It can include the self improvement habits that are frequently discussed such as meditation, prayer, self care, exercise, working on your diet etc.
šStay strong guys! We can Fight this New Drug and Overcome our addictions one day at a time!!
