Route 9-winter road conditions between Brattleboro and Bennington?

So I’ve lived in VT most of my life and am now looking to buy a modest cottage in the Woodford area.

My mother who has lived in Bennington before is convinced Route 9 is too steep/curvy and thinks it will be super dangerous to get to town in the winter, to the degree she doesn’t want me even looking at houses in that area.

anyone traveling that way regularly have input? I do have 4WD and have been trying to remind her a fuck ton of people commute on that road all year so it’ll be one of the first to be plowed/salted.
