What do you miss about the West? Or should I just move back to Bangkok?
(Reposting with less controversial content)
I grew up in Bangkok before moving to London to study but then found a job and never left. I visit my family about twice a year, and lately I'm having more and more trouble justifying my presence in London.

It used to be the case that London was more 'exotic'. I remember the Krispy Kreme craze in Bangkok and thought how dumb those people were obsessing over something available everywhere. I remember not being able to buy Nutella as early back as 2014. And the four seasons duck. Now they're everywhere.

I've been there long enough to get a British passport

Buying return gifts used to be picking up Lindt from Tesco's. Now Lindt is too 'commonfolk'; you can get them at foodland

You can now get jobs in Thailand which pay nearly as much as a UK salary, especially if you have a western degree and work experience. Although here's an issue; I've worked with western colleagues all my life and have no idea how to act in a Thai workplace. Also not sure if the pay is as competitive for my profession (Software engineer), most high paying jobs seem to be finance related.
So what do you think, Reddit? Is there anything that you miss about the west?
