RP3 buttons overhaul idea
Hi, i feel like i've been waiting so long for the retroid pocket 3 to arrive i actually gave up hope and tho and behold it turns up on my youtube feed. i missed the grand unveiling and so on as i was a couple months late t o the party but anyway i got one and am very happy with it, except a few things. i'm so sick of a NEARLY perfect retro device.
anyway this is more about ergonomics really. i was playing turok 2 seeds of evil and also zelda ocarina of time on my rp2+ with this button configuration
L1= Right shoulder button
L2 = Z button
R1= A button
R2 = B button
start = start
Dpad = dpad
analogue stick = analogue stick
A/Circle button = C right
B/ Cross button = C down
X/ Triangle button = C up
Y/ Square button = C right
Left analogue slider twiddled in any direction = Left shoulder button
it works pretty well for turok and also surprisingly well for zelda as well, however it's still not ideal.
i opened up my RP3 to see if it was possible to do some configurations myself as i have some 0.02mm² (not sure what that is in AWG.... maybe 36 AWG sorry I'm from the UK) being an electrician (not electronics specialist but in construction) I'm a pretty handy person with drilling measuring and the likes BUT when i opened the case my right analogue stick ribbon cable shorted out against the ground casing of the home button, and now doesn't work :( *sad face* doesn't matter i ordered a new one and not many games use the right analogue anyway.
what i discovered is with some tinkering there IS actually space to make these modifications, although its an expensive mistake if i mess up so i think i'll just leave it to the official boys and Retroid, but before i propose this to them in an email i want to see what you guys think?
i took a picture of my RP3 and just moved a few buttons about and labelled it. i hate start/lect on top and soclose together but it is perfect for volume there. i also hate the home and volume buttons on the sides as there is more than enough space on top where it would be perfect.
