Fight

Poem

Why Is it a fight to be young?

Childhood innocence is lost, but the child still remains does she not?

Innocence is difficult to maintain when you must play a thousand roles at once, none asked for.

I am 16, yes, but still a child.

Responsibility and maturity of an adult have been had for far too long, they’re taking their toll.

Constantly kicking and screaming to remain a child is exhausting.

My childhood is coming to a close and yet it seems as though it never started.

Sixteen years have been spent, playing the perfect daughter.

mature, intelligent, independent.

Every day of my sixteen years has been a fight for my youth.

I’m exhausted, I can’t, I can’t , I can’t.

I’ve lost.
