Wishful Thinking
I miss you.
And I lie awake at night thinking about all the missed opportunities. All the sidewalk passes, hoping we will get gas at the same pump, Or maybe your milk will spoil at the same time as mine And we will lock eyes in the grocery line. Maybe you’ll remember how loved me back then And you’ll ask me how I’ve been, and I won’t lie. I’ll tell you I’m fine, But I could be much better. And maybe you’ll come home with me. And we’ll get lost in the memories. Tangled up bedsheets and swollen lips. Bruising grip on my hips.
And you’ll remember how sweet I taste, and I’ll remember how you’re the only one who knows how to touch me.
And you’ll realize your worst fears are confirmed. Because you still miss me, too.
