Republicans have been promoting DeSantis as the future leader of the party and an alternative to Trump. Should Democrats similarly start rallying behind someone as an heir or replacement for Biden, and who should it be?

Definitely not Kamala Harris. She is horrible

I literally have no idea what she has accomplished since taking office.

Everyone keeps bashing her but I have absolutely no idea what she's done... Good or bad. In almost every other presidencies there was at least a puff piece about some project the VP was working on every quarter or so.

What happened

Rally behind policy, not behind person. This isn't a cult.

I think it's too soon to rally. Dems have a lot of options to consider.

Gretchen Whitmer might be interesting.

Biden replaces Harris with Newsom and then resigns...

Anti-democratic vibe. Not a good idea. But Newsom in 2024 looks interesting.

Don’t sleep on a Newsom/Abrams ticket.

Unfortunately, the Democrats bench isn’t very deep.

You lost me at “heir”

Democrats don't really have many leaders in politics. Biden never was a leader of anything, he was a corporate puppet from the start.

Yes, I would like somebody other than Biden as a party nominee. That, however, is complicated by the fact that sitting presidents typically get the nomination for whatever party. DeSantis, is a douche but is actively promoting himself (in ways evil and through actions). He's not just sitting back and letting the other Republicans promote him out of thin air.

So, I don't see anybody in my party doing the same (not in bad ways) and that's because, again, if Biden chooses to run, then that's kinda how it is

DNC likes Newsome and Beto. I am sure they have others as well. Mayor Pete seems to get a lot of love.

Beto just lost in a near landslide. Maybe not the best choice

Yes he did. That doesn’t mean they don’t like him. He wasn’t who I’d run in TX after his loss last time or after saying he’d take guns. In TX the DNC told us they must support a pro-life Democrat in TX because that’s the path to victory. There is a pattern. You could say the same thing about Trump in OPs question l, he lost why run him. I don’t dictate who they seem to like. Mayor Pete lost, Kamala lost, Booker lost, Abraham’s lost. Who knows what will happen? Leading up to the 2016 GOP Convention Trump seemed unlikely. Anything can happen. Closest thing the Democrats have to DeSantis would probably be Newsome.

As a libertarian, democrats can and should do better than Biden. Who? Not my place, but they need to find someone.

I think it's safe to say when it comes to Dem noms Sanders eill always he #2 pick for most with his policies, but as of late and who will more than likely be a lot of future talks 2028+ AOC. She's made an "extreme" name for herself and dems being female the RNC has loved to gang up on. Many would say upon the republican side she's the Donald Trump of Dems.

No, people pick on her because she's insane.

I’d go with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

She’s young, energetic, and already a rather popular public figure. Plus, if she wants a shot at the Oval Office, AOC turns 35 in 2024, thus making her eligible to run.

Would I vote for her? No; I disagree with her on far too much. However, I’m not stupid; AOC is going to be a challenge for anyone to beat, be it Biden, Trump, DeSantis, or someone else.
