Such is Love
Remember when we planted the seed,
We didn't know what would grow,
We cut back all the growing weeds,
We waited for something to show.
•
From the dirt sprung a bulb,
Still not sure what it wanted to be,
It hid in its olive fold,
Away from what either of us could see.
•
As it grew and its leaves appeared
It opened up to show flowers,
It's surroundings still cleared,
It was fully ours.
•
Then it peaked, in full bloom,
Pinkish-red, yellow tipped petals.
It smelled pleasant like perfume.
Then fell white speckles...
•
Decayed, the flower was gone.
A brown petal remained on the snow.
No more colors, all life was drawn.
Everything now felt slow.
•
We never thought about it,
It wasn't a perrenial,
We were keen to commit,
No more feelings so genial.
•
We accepted the fact
The flower had died.
It no longer would grow.
It would never come back.
