The southern flying squirrel or the assapan (Glaucomys volans) is one of three species of the genus Glaucomys and one of three flying squirrel species found in North America. It is found in deciduous and mixed woods in the eastern half of North America, from southeastern Canada to Florida. Disjunct populations of this species have been recorded in the highlands of Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.

What a sweet baby! How on earth did it get in? And how did you manage to catch it?

Most likely the screen to the attic vent got dislodged or she tore her way in. And Florida Man never reveals his secrets 😂. But honestly the no eye contact snatch is the best way to go. You can also shine with a bright light, but you'll need a helper and snatch em up quickly.

Good to know! 😂

Safely returned to the woods
Nice work! Thanks for helping squirrel out!
Thank you for taking the time to humanely catch her and release her rather than just killing her.
