‘Hope in the cracks’

Poem

When does it end? When will we look at each other, Without our tinted glass? When we say brother and sister, To the race of mankind.

When will the bombs stop falling? And peace reign free? When will liberation reach all people? Not just you and me.

When will the rich feed the poor? Or politicians lead the way? When will the past peel away, To form a better day?

Misunderstanding breeds hate, This is obvious you see, Misunderstanding turns the waterfall of life, Into a drop on the polluted sea.

When will wealth lose its power? When will the enslavement end? 'You're a slave to money then you die', Is this our answer to 'why?'

Will my words became a poem of paper? Or a poem to your heart? Now is the time for change, Now is the time to start.

Our forests lie burning, By man's dirty deed. This world is fit for purpose, Not for man's selfish greed.

A child lies paralysed, A car moving too fast, Impatience cost a life, Surely the madness won't last?

In the black air, From chimney's smoking high, A flower's scent prevails, But is the scent goodbye?

Hope still exists, It always will prevail, But have we burnt the ship? Before it set its sail?

The light of hope, Is shining through the cracks. Let's rise together, And fulfil our basic lack.

Let love conquer hate, And hope consume fear. Fire to burn the lies, Of the last 1000 years.

The change starts here, It begins in the heart. In the name of hope, A new age must start.
