Wake me up when the bus stops

Poem

Gliding through the fog, the bus is here
Pay the fare, say "Hello!". I'm on the go!
Walk up to my seat, a familiar sight,
My muscles retire in a gentle flow

We set off at daybreak, the streets are cold
But I take off my coat, for it's warm inside
Buildings and passersby - all but a blur
In this imaginary world, I'm ready to hide.

Got no tasks at hand, no books to read,
No music to play, no phone calls to make!
In this empty bus, I let myself unfold
In here, there's room for a million mistakes

My seat just a blind spot in the driver's mirror,
Right? Readily, I yield to these delusions.
Now, I welcome a party of my companions;
Take a seat, my hopes, fears and confusions!

It's been one long day since we last met!
Let the dialog begin: 30 minutes on the clock.
Praises and grievances, all on the table,
I preside. Wary, I decide who gets to talk.

Passing by this river, this park, that dump
I've got promises to keep and wounds to heal,
Barring all else, oh how lucky I could be
To find some refuge in this box of steel!

Alas, my stop is next. I prepare to get off,
Picking up the parts of me, now scattered;
Check the calendar, ready to make some calls,
And get to the part of the day that matters.
