Sent my car for panel replacements and won’t refund me for work he didn’t do
Hello sorry if I get anything wrong this is my first Reddit post !
5 months ago I was in a collision while driving which led to my front bumper, headlight and bonnet being damaged. I also had damage to a slam panel underneath. I took my car straight to a “friend” of mine for the repairs and he quoted me £550 for the parts. As far as I’m concerned he only ordered the slam panel and headlight. After about 3 weeks of no reply I went round to see my car in the same condition it was when I crashed. However there slam panel and headlight were there. Because of the time it took I decided to install these things myself. After which I told him I wanted the rest of the money back since he did no work. He gave me no receipts however looking online I asked for £300 back instead of the original £550. After months of no reply and empty promises to pay me back, he has now said he refuses to pay me the money and states he ordered the bumper and bonnet and since I didn’t claim them he threw them away even though there is no evidence of them being ordered (I never saw them). I want to take him to small claims court (United Kingdom) . I have plenty of evidence of him owing me this money and promising to pay me back (texts) and I also have a video of him saying he refuses to pay me at all now which he said on a phone call today. I don’t have a contract but I have evidence of me paying him and texts showing what I was sending the money for. Any questions feel free to ask and thanks for reading!
Just need advice on if I’ll win or what I should do about it.
