Opinions on Jean-Luc Godard
I have recently been making my way through the films of the French New Wave and enjoying directors such as Louis Malle and Jacques Demy. My favorites of the movement have been the 400 Blows, Zazzie Dans La Metro, and Bay of Angels. Overall I have had an enjoyable experience with the French New Wave. That is except for Godard. I haven’t been able to connect to his films the same way I have with other directors. I’d say so far my favorite of his has been Band A Part, but even that was a bit slow for me. Being one of the most famous and influential directors of all time, I was really let down because I really want to like him, but his films just haven’t been doing it for me. That being said, I wonder what others opinions on Godard are, and if there is any insight anybody could give me as to what to look for in a Godard film in order to improve my experience with them?
