Invitation to Apply: Technology Showcase for Planetary Science
2023 Technology Showcase for Future NASA Planetary Science Missions
January 9-11, 2023
Moody Gardens, Galveston, TX
NASA’s Science Mission Directorate encourages the use of innovative new technologies to dramatically increase science returns on future missions and is sponsoring a Technology Showcase – focused this year on planetary science – to foster discussions about new technologies that may substantially improve future planetary science missions.
The showcase’s science organizing committee has solicited abstracts from the planetary science community describing missions that are expected to be proposed to future planetary science solicitations including New Frontiers, Discovery, or SIMPLEx (Small Innovative Missions for Planetary Exploration) Announcements of Opportunity, or directed Flagship and medium-class concepts identified by the National Academy of Sciences’ “Origins, Worlds, and Life: A Decadal Strategy for Planetary Science and Astrobiology 2023–2032.”
Eligible developers who may have relevant technology for those missions are invited to apply to showcase their technologies no later than December 1, 2022. Notices of interest to participate (NOIP) should be submitted at https://nasa-techshowcase.seti.org/registration-of-interest/.
Scientists, mission managers, and other interested parties also are invited to attend. Science abstracts, general information and general registration details are available at https://nasa-techshowcase.seti.org/.
Space is limited for this invitation-only event. Invitation selection will prioritize the following highest to lowest: 1) Developers with technology relevant to one or more of the published abstracts; 2) scientists and mission/formulation managers with an interest in the missions described by the abstracts; and 3) other interested parties.
All invitations and participation are subject to the restrictions placed on NASA by SEC. 526 of the ‘‘Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2022’’ that prohibits bilateral relationships with China. Find details of the restriction on NASA at: https://www.congress.gov/117/plaws/publ103/PLAW-117publ103.pdf.
