Clinical spot says I need to talk to the patient more? Any thoughts/ideas?

X-Ray

I’m a current senior year student. I’m at my clinical spot three times a week. I like it, my director says they’re prob going to offer me a job, but I need to “talk to the patient more”. I call the patient in, ask them their last name and DOB, and why they’re getting that particular X-ray done. Should I also explain the whole procedure? I shouldn’t ask the patient their whole life story…what else needs to be asked? It’s an outpatient location. Am I a very talkative person? No. But I don’t think the patients want to have a full on conversation either. They want to get their X-rays done and get out.
