Herding Balls for ACDs

I’m researching herding balls and I was hoping to get some guidance. Is a 14” a good size or should I go for a 20”? Does your ACD pick up on it pretty fast or does it require training? Thanks just got my second ACD and I need to keep them busy! Thanks!
