What's the best option for RA on a console?

I want to expose my niblings to all the games from my childhood, but I'm hoping to buy/build an emulator box I can load everything on instead of having a dozen or so consoles hooked up somewhere.

So what's the easiest option for a home console type thing that I can load with roms of my collection and have RA on so they can get achievements as they play?

SteamDeck with Docking Station.

It can run everything including Dreamcast and PS2. You can use Xbox or PS4 controller. In theory, you can even plug in original gamepads using cheap bluetooth pc-adapter.

And it’s also a handheld device, so you can play on it everywhere.

I believe people are running RetroArch on Xbox Series S/X?

Yep, don't even need to use dev mode anymore either since people upload it onto the store

This is the route I ended up going. Thanks, mate!

Picked up a Series S and got RA running and aside from PS2 not working, everything else is working swimmingly.

Wii U is a pretty good option if you're a Nintendo fan, because you also have access to entire Wii U, Wii and GC library and it's pretty easy to mod. Off Tv is nice too.

For Retroachievements it's decent too, but it does have the downside of having some stutter problems with achievements enabled at times. I play on 1.10.3 for achievements because the lastest version has some pretty bad stutters at startup if the game has a lot of achievements, it does go away after a while but it's annoying But on 1.10.3 this only happens the first time you open up a game, you'll need to create a folder for the cheevos on the thumbnails folders manually though.
