Transito: A bus timing application (yes another one BUT I made this one!)
Hello there! I'm a Y2 Polytechnic Student who would like to share Transito a bus timing application that I have been working on for the past few months.
TL;DR
Transito is a bus timing app focused on enabling users to get information swiftly. Features included in the app were carefully curated to improve the user's quality of life without making the app feel bloated and confusing to use. Users can do all this while interacting with an aesthetically pleasing and minimal user interface
Don't worry, I hear you going "Huh? Another bus timing app? For what sia?" so I might as well get straight to why I built this app.
I didn't really like the bus timing apps that were currently available. Mainly because all I need a bus timing app for is to quickly see when my bus is arriving (so that I can decide if I have to start sprinting). Hence, I built this app with ease of access in mind to enable users to get information swiftly.
"How is Transito different from all the other apps out there ah?"
I would say that I spent time on making the UI & UX of Transito more modern and aesthetically pleasing to use compared to the current options.
It also includes features that I thought would benefit the users without feeling like a gimmick. For example, when you add a bus stop to your favourites you can choose specific bus services for each bus stop. Once you have added a bus stop to your favourites, they will also show up in the "Nearby Favourites" section to be viewed at a glance.
"Eh, how come I need to log in one? You trying to steal my data is it?"
Of course not, I'm not Meta. I have added the ability to create an account and log in so that you will be able to keep your favourites and settings even if you switch devices.
However, if you don't really care about this feature and prefer to remain anonymous, don't worry I have you covered! Simply click on the "New Here? Register!" text at the bottom of the login screen and click on the "Continue as a Guest" button.
"How did you make this?"
If you are a fellow programmer and would like to know more about the technologies and view the project's source code it is available on this GitHub Repository
Thank you for reading through this post and feel free to comment or dm me if you have any questions or feature suggestions! If you would like to download the app here is the Google Play Store Listing
