How you should tag your r4r posts!

Let’s get down to business! As you can tell, the best way to get other redditors to look at your post is by utilizing the tagging system we have developed. Examples of these tags include: [f4m], [m4f], [f4f], [m4m], [t4f], [t4m],[f4t], [m4t], [t4t], and [r4r]. If you are a couple or looking for a couple, please us a / to distinguish between ages.

Tagging Legend:

M - Male/Man

F - Female/Woman

T - Transgender

R - Redditor/Anyone/All

When submitting a new post, we recommend putting your age, your tag, where you are located, and what you are looking for. Some examples of a subject could be:

25 [m4f] Michigan - Have a ticket for the Foo Fighters this weekend. Who’s interested?

19 [f4f] Boston - Just started school and am looking for some new friends!

34/30 [RR4M] San Francisco - Looking to create a soccer team to play once or twice a week

If you do not comply with this tagging system, the bot will automatically remove your post. You will be messaged and kindly asked to resubmit your post using the format that I have listed above.

By using this tagging system, you make it easier for people to find you and it is easier for you to find that special someone!

Good luck!

Also, here's a picture of a cat with a hat on. This will influence you to follow the guidelines! :D

My plan WORKED! :D

Also, just for reference, we will be taking this lightly for a few days and just sending people friendly reminders, but after that I'd like to see this being followed as best as we can. It makes it a lot easier for people to easily navigate and with the coding we have in place (where female posts get turned pink) it won't work if not done properly. Makes all that hardwork gone to waste!

Thank you everyone!

Plus it ensures that you can properly filter posts you don't want to see with RES!

OH GOD NO!

I've got a question about that turning pink thing. I've posted a couple of F4Rs, tagged properly, and mine aren't pink - they're purple (prior to clicking). Is it because I'm not doing F4M? Does the R prevent it from turning pink?

When you view the link it turns purple marking that it's read.

I believe yes that's the way it's set. I can double check later though.

So I can only make mine that eye-catching pink if I exclude women, and only target men? Seems to me like predicating the link color on the gender of the poster, not on whom the poster is looking for, would make more sense.

1
Zeld4•

I think it was made that way so that people could see that the gender you are looking for is nonspecific. I'll look in to it though

It might be nice to also prescribe a standard way of formatting region information. It's a hassle when some posts near me can be represented as "DFW", or "Texas", or "TX", or "Dallas", etc. Maybe for posts with locations, require a country code / state abbreviation? (US-TX?)

2
snugglehistoryOP•

This is also a really good idea. I know I hate searching for either "Jersey" or "NJ".

I'll throw this idea around! Thanks! :D

I'd like to stick to the fact that location is not always required. Sometimes you just want to chat and in that case, why does one need to put where they are from? It's irrelevant.

0
snugglehistoryOP•

That could work if someone just wanted to chat, which should be specified in the subject. It doesn't work if someone says that they want to go to the movies and don't put a location.

I think the majority of people on here want to find someone in their area.

0
Zeld4•

i realize that. What I'm trying to get across though is that we shouldn't force someone to disclose their location.

Brilliant idea smuggle.

BTW, CONGRATS ON YOUR FIRST MOD POST!!!!

Oh, you! :)

Another great idea! I'll have to see if our coding will take that tag and put the correct colors around it (e.g. female posts being pink).

I'll toss it around to the other mods! Thanks! :D

You are free to use whatever tag that fits your needs, as long as it follows format an you explain it in case someone doesn't know what it means haha.

No need to post a URL! :) You can do a link submission or a text submission. You wanna go for the text and then you can write whatever your little heart desires!
