The Walk of the Afghan Commanders
Once I sat in scorn and scoff
And watched two grown men
Hand in hand walk
Clasping at each other's wrists
Then entangling fingers
Like lovers at tryst
I couldn't deny, I then felt contempt
At a gesture meant for women
Which men are exempt
But these old Afghan warriors knew
What the young warrior did not
That when we are that brave together
We tie a knot
Its a bond that's so deep
It's known only by the few
And I'm proud to have brothers
As brave as you
So let the others scorn and scoff
As you take my hand
And on the battlefield we walk
We'll talk about what us warriors do
Closing with, destroying the enemy
And probably some logistics too
