Forbidden Love

Poem

I met an empty claypot

a gaping hole in his heart

so I took my wet terra

cotta, ripped my soul apart

I begged to let me heal him

so he let me in at first

cracks embedded his wounded

frame, he knew his fate was cursed

I struggled to reach inside

for his clay was hard to bend

his walls surfaced faster each

time, his heart was tough to mend

his tragic past frightened him

he scavenged for a reason

to end the only love he

had felt truly at peace in

he vowed he was a steel vessel

bravely demanded I depart

thus ending ‘us’ and our love story

by shattering my ceramic heart
