Bird's Eye View
How magnificent our ability to zoom in and zoom out
An advantageous trait as humans no doubt
How magnificent our ability to switch our view on cue
What happens if we get stuck in one of the two
Through our built in magnifying glass
Time sure passes, ever so fast
The ability to take apart and to scrutinise
So close, it becomes hard to recognise
The shift from scrutiny to unconscious judgment
Allowing no room for empathic discernment
So close, we become petty and narrow minded
A world distorted, we are blind sided
If only we remembered to take a few steps back
To see all roads rather than a one way track
Observe ourselves from a bird's eye view
The space, the horizon, the endless blue
From here we see all sides to a story
The entirety appears in all its glory
Choices and opportunities here arise
We step away from perceived magnetised demise
We see in fact, the reality of this wonderful place
The eternal, the timeless, the endless space
Compassion for where we have been and who we are today
A divine order shines through the disarray
Patience on our chosen path
The knowledge that this too shall pass
The choice to see ourselves in wholeness
No fragmentation, a balanced calmness
What a gift is our ability to zoom in and zoom out
A gift we certainly could not do without
As long as we remember to switch between the two
To enjoy the harmony from a bird's eye view.
