see, see the son of god

Poem

They came to a crossroads etched on cracked and broken clay,
Where monument and edifice turned to dust and blew away,
And there they saw there a figure kneeling, as if to pray,
They asked him, "Traveler, what is your name?"

The stranger said nothing but turned towards them,
And they beheld His crowned visage,
Carpenter's hands by stigmata marked,
Hands clasped as if to pray

Kingmaker, carrion throne, of moonless nights and sunless day
Wind-rider, sword eater,
of a hundred faces and a thousand fames
Eyes closed as if to pray

Two shining tears trailed down that prince's face
From blinded eyes bloody trails they traced
Angels crying, lambs bleating, pogrom-brazier all ablaze

"See, see the Son of God, see Him supplicant as if to pray"
"See, see the Son of God, see the arbiter of fates"
"See, see the Son of God, see rebellion's voice and trade"
"See, see the Son of God, laid bare as if to pray"
