Managed to install a headphone jack on the Homebase 2, now the alarm can really sound like an alarm.

Still very janky looking, but just wanted to test it out to see if it worked.

Will probably make it look nicer in the future and add a bluetooth adapter and connect to a siren/speaker.

But in hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have drilled a hole (warranty) as you don't really need it if u don't mind wires sticking out from the bottom.

Is it just a case of tapping off the two existing speaker connections/wires inside the Homebase?

How hard is it to open the case?

Cool. I'm going to try it with a 3.5 socket mounted into the Homebase.

Yup this is what I eventually did

Good idea. Another idea to expand on this... Inside the box connect to a Bluetooth audio 3.5mm adapter, then pair your Stereo/receiver or external Bluetooth Speakers to the device. Now, when your alarm goes off, you can't track it back to the base. This also allows you to connect to ANY speakers in the house.

No way! You gotta show a video of this in action lol

loud as a "jackhammer" my butt. You really cant hear it out of the room its in. Now my ring alarm was actually LOUD, but you needs the ability to link speakers for better effect

Part of Eufys marketing material for how loud they claim that tiny speaker to be.

Ohhh yeah, it's a joke. Almost returned it back then

The gen 3 is more quiet than the gen 2 in my opinion as well. Also lost some alert tones too

Yeah the eufy alarm is a joke. I set it off by accident and was shocked by how low it was. Added some dumb alarms to bring in some real sound that can't be ignored.

And how quickly it stops. Like literally if you step out of the sight of the camera it is over.

2
PersonalJOP•

I thought you could set it to where it doesn't stop alarming until you manually turn it off?

1

Maybe you can. Right now if i trigger a camera it alarms, but if i hide it stops the alarm. However if it thinks the camera is being stolen it alarms until i disable it.

Tutorial!!

Maybe I'll make one in the future but it's kind of straightforward.

But basically see here:

https://sancla.com/hacking/inside-the-eufy-homebase-2/

You see that last picture. Those black and red wires are connected to the internal speaker and can be easily detached.

You can either use that same 2 wires and just splice it to a 3.5mm jack.

Though I recommend getting a new one (its called a 2-Pin Female JST PH-Style Cable) and leave it in there in case you ever want to reconnect the old speaker.

I haven't setup the home assistant eufy extensions but wondered if they pick up the homebase alarm being triggered to kick off "secondary" home assistant alarms of my own design. Anyone know if that is possible? The homebase 2 alarm is pathetic, even my cat, who is super sensitive to alarm sounds, just shrugs when it goes off.

3
PersonalJOP•

Yes it's possible, home assistant has a Eufy integration.

When my homebase gets triggered, it's turns the alarm on for all my indoor Eufy cameras (3 outside, 2 inside).

I had to do this because the homebase can't officially communicate with any of the indoor cameras. (Seriously?)

You can get pretty creative if you have the Eufy keypad as well.

I use macro droid so that when the alarm sounding notification is triggered on my phone, a webhook runs, turning on a smart plug connected to a 12 v alarm siren. It works for and is certainly a lot louder 🔊

Nahhh… I don’t believe it. You have to prove it! 🤘🏻

By alarm you mean doorbell?

PersonalJOP•

No,I meant the homebase built in alarm

Not sure that's classic. Looks new and with backing(notice the clear bar on the spacebar)
