a poem to a little bird
In the boughs I found him
Upon a berry,
He stood there
And look his heart into the fruit,
Intimately knowing its skin
Which soon shall be part of him
And the leaf which held him
Spoke of his kin before him
By the footprints it wore,
The air broke in a second
And my heart unsealed its gates,
To welcome him
But alas he was gone,
I saw him for a second yet loved
Him for a lifetime,
And till this day
My soul still wears a crown
Where his ghost still sits tall
And his song remains
By each breath my lungs take
Some day this lark shall return
Till then, dear friend
Wander into the forest of my dreams
Where the green veins of imagination
Picture you at your height,
At your noblest point,
Sitting there in in a twig,
Stemming from my heart strings
