Just had the "Christmas" dinner at Wetherspoons

I've just returned from a work dinner at spoons, and had the christmas dinner

I'm absolutely shocked to report that not only does it not come with gravy, they also do not provide any if questioned. There was a small amount on the turkey, but I was forced to eat peas, carrots, and mash sans the meaty liquid we all know and love

It also doesn't come with a yorkshire, but I don't even think I'd want one if I can't drench it in gravy

However, the sticky toffee pudding was good.

If you must go, as I did, order something else or bring a thermos of bovril with you. I hope I can spare just one person the pain I've been through

I know you can’t expect too much from spoons but Christmas dinner with no gravy?? Shocking

They have gravy for other things so I have no idea why they'd not include it. Very strange all round. It's practically mandatory

What kind of people hold a works dinner at Spoons? Didn't you suggest maybe going to a slightly nicer establishment?

It was the only place everyone could agree on, since a couple of my colleagues are incredibly picky. I once saw one of them picking out bits of pepper from the rice from one of the hospital dinners.

I'm also in a small seaside town so options are pretty limited. We could have gone to either the fancy austrian place, the nice independent seafood place that i wanted to go to or at least beefeater, but one person didn't like anything on the menu, one person "doesn't do fish" and "they don't like the chips there" respectively

We go out once a month, so I might suggest a trip to somewhere further afield next time.

Well out of respect for the rest of the team, that one person can kindly piss off. Next year go somewhere nice and if they don’t like the food they can starve.

No gravy, should be illegal.

Must be a rubbish Spoons. I’ve had two in two different places and both came with lots of gravy. I’m so sorry this happened to you!

It likely is a shit spoons. The eggs for breakfast there are usually burned and horrible, and the pigs in blankets were pretty charred.

If there wasn’t any gravy, stuffing, roast potatoes, chipolatas or sprouts it wasn’t a Christmas dinner.

I agree

Must of been drier than being in the desert sipping a liter of coffee without the gravy

Similar experience at Harvester one year. Madness.

Don't think you were

Well I'd paid £12 for it. That constitutes force in my book
