Divorce with kiddos, do I need a lawyer?

Hello, I just discovered my spouse’s infidelity. We have talked some things through for the divorce, he travels for work and is home for about 2 weeks every 6 weeks. He would have kiddos when he’s home. He has said he will still supply support, but we haven’t gotten into the nitty gritty yet ( still 3days fresh into this)Is it crazy if we don’t get lawyers to work through this process? What other things do we need to consider? Or what could be a problem in the future if not solidified now? It is all taking place in Maine. Thanks so much.
