Last Aligners!

I have 11 days left and then will switch to retainers. I had 27 regular aligners and then 16 refinements. It’s been exactly a year since I started.

My experience hasn’t been typical as I’ve been going through the implant process at the same time. I had a root canal/crown failure and it was a nightmare. I have been under the care of an ortho and perio specialist, so the plan was intense. I had an extraction and bone graft and started my first set of aligners that day. I do not recommend surgery and then starting Invisalign. The pain was unreal. But, my aligners had a little composite placed in the gap so they have been great at hiding the issue, and it also protected the site.

In July I had the actual implant placed which was another major procedure with new trays immediately afterwards. I had refinements soon after. I have quite a few baby teeth that are permanent so it’s always impacted my bite and led to dental issues.

I am going in on 12/12 for the remainder of my treatment. They will place the abutment on my implant, two crowns on baby teeth, remove all the attachments and scan me for retainers. I’ll also go on a whitening regimen. My teeth look pretty bad in the after pic but it’s mainly lighting

I suppose there is the possibility my doctor might suggest another set of refinements but I am happy where I am at. My teeth aren’t perfect, but I want a sense of normalcy and this process has been very painful and depressing. I’m relieved to be in the home stretch.
