Felt like love

We lay side by side watching the sun set over the lake and you put your phone in between us to play me your favorite songs and it wasn’t love but we were so close that sometimes it felt like it

We went to your dorm and I made fun of the smell and I tried on your hat and you said I looked cute and it wasn’t love but we were so close that sometimes it felt like it

You took me to meet up with your friends even though I wasn’t invited and it was a guys night and when they left we sat in the grass, our faces inches apart, and it wasn’t love but we were so close that sometimes it felt like it

Months went by and we made other friends and you didn’t text me every day and I didn’t lose love but we weren’t as close so sometimes it felt like it

We sat on the table at 4 am passing a joint back and forth and waiting for the sun to rise and confessed to each other that even though we knew it wasn’t love we were so close that sometimes we had both thought it felt like it
