two celestial bodies

we were two celestial bodies

dancing freely around each other

never quite meeting

but rather watching from afar

and for a while that was enough

you were the brightest star i have ever seen

filling the black void with your warm light

giving life to others with your gentle touch

i am a small and rocky moon

so insignificant and frail

yet somehow the cause of a sea of tears

washing up on familiar faces

you were the caregiver of this world

so gentle and caring

always there to light up the way

for those who needed it the most

i am a quiet watcher

lurking in the shadows in the dead of night

bearing witness to its monstrosities

for the longest time you were unaware

that i even existed

but then something happened

and your gaze met mine

your eyes filled with so much love

i thought it would burn a hole in my chest

and then you came closer

soft hand on my cheek

another intertwining your fingers with mine

and when our lips met

the whole world went dark
