you were perfect
you were like a crackling fire in the winter
playful
filled with life
and warming others whenever they needed it the most
i am like an icy wind
numbing
seeping through the smallest cracks
chilling to the bone at the worst possible moment
you were like freshly steeped green tea
refreshing
causing a smile that lights up the eyes
perfect no matter the situation
i am like a cheap vodka in a plastic bottle
bitter
causing a grimace that makes a face ugly
good for one time just to never be touched after
you were like a heated blanket
soft and relaxing
giving a warm embrace to everyone you touched
i am like an old coarse towel
washed up and rough
no longer fulfilling my purpose
you were perfect
or as perfect as my eyes could see you
and so i blame myself every day
for leaving my dirty mark on you
and ruining something so holy
