He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Is your conversation such as to bring glory to God. Can people tell you are Christian by the language that you use? Do you talk like a sailor? Do you tell dirty jokes? Do you laugh when others do?

Are the effects of your words such as to build up the kingdom of God?

Say this prayer daily and with meaning:

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

(Psalm 19:14)

He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

"Conversation" in the 17th century had a different meaning than it does today. In that verse it means "conduct."

You have given the verse a far more reaching effect. It is not merely all manner of conversation but all manner of conduct period of which conversation is only one aspect. So I thank you for pointing that out.

So using your words, Is the conduct of your conversation such as to bring glory to God. Can people tell you are Christian by how you conduct your language? Do you conduct your speech like a sailor? Do you tell dirty jokes? Do you laugh when others do?

Are the effects of the conduct of your conversation such as to build up the kingdom of God?

Whyest thou speakest like that? .....do you think God speaks like that? Do you think a modern translation is less holy? Less understandable?

Do you really want to quibble over Bible versions? Feel free to use whatever version you like and allow your brother the same courtesy.

Because non Christians read this. And it simply tells them God is far away , old fashioned and nothing to do with them . That's why it's important

Nobody has trouble understanding "hath" and "ye". You are acting like it is in Greek. Go find some other fish to fry and learn not to be rude.

Because nobody in the world speaks like that today. Nobody. Then tell me why you feel the need to quote the Holy Bible in such outdated language? I'm asking an honest question. Why. Can you not see what I looks like to non Christians? So why do it? ....the rest of your post was in normal English. Only the Bible wasn't.
