The Real Me (Trans vent poetry)
I’m trapped in a cage
The cage is pink
Bright pink
Like a birthday cake of mine so many years ago
When I was young and happy
Yet so confused
Im wearing a dress
That has ruffles and frills
My hair is growing
Growing
Growing
Growing
Suddenly
Someone opens the cage
He looks like me, but he is a boy
I look at him longingly in envy
He wears his hair short
While mine is long
He has a sharp jawline
While mine is round
His chest is smooth and flat
While mine is covered with a shirt
He has slim dark eyes
While mine are bright and puffy with tears
But we still look the same
He holds out his hand to me and I reach for it
When he pulls me out, two weights are lifted off my chest
As I change into the costume of a prince
Shiny and white
And my hair falls away
Then I realize
The boy is me
