Burden

Poem

A dim lit room I lay
Music that is blue and soft
My mind is dull and my body numb
I see no longer a reason to stay
A harsh sigh escapes followed by a cough
How should I be so dumb to think I’m worthwhile
I’m nothing beneath my masquerade of a smile
A burden to life I compare
So much pain I lose my hair
I pray my final rest to come
My sins a debt I no longer pay
I’m no longer lost
To the plan I finally succumb
A place of rest I never lay
