If I were a sphinx

Poem

If I were a sphinx you’d be the answer to every riddle

Ironic, how riddled you've left me

If I were a cyclops, you’d be the only thing I’d see

Ironic, how you ran a stake through my eye

If I were a hydra I’d grow a million heads, each one to admire your beauty

Ironic, how you slew and set ablaze each one

I’d steal the fire of Olympus to keep you warm

Ironic, how you left me so cold

I’d navigate the Minotaurs maze for you

Ironic, how lost I feel now

I loved you more than narcissus loved himself

I didn’t know

You loved yourself more than narcissus loved himself
