The Universal Fluid
Like water, I exist,
floating where I'm made to,
formlessly, shaping myself anew
for everyone I encounter.
A smile dissimilar,
an intonation unalike.
Demeanors disparate,
miens, a million.
Forming glaciers with their coldness,
clouds with their fervour and
staying still, recitent when needed,
pushing through boulders
and falling off of cliffs,
to join who I can,
multifauceted.
Stagnant at times,
moving nowhere, or
as much as I can, or
should, at least,
too lazy, or
at halt perhaps.
Filled with dirt, with
endless filth that only I can see
and feel, in my bones
and the mind, unlike water
but like water, just dragging it around,
disgusting pollutant,
with nowhere to call home.
I was trying to capture dissociation and self-hatred relating to not having a true self. How well does it show? How does the poem read? What does it make you feel?
Any comments are highly appreciated.
Some great works-
