My Father's Gift

Poem

My father taught me how to swim to save my life and it still does to this day

Giving me a gift he didn't know I would need

Some drown in their sorrows, I swim mine away

The cleanness of the water smooths out my skin

Erasing any scars that were once there

Every time I think of making a new mark I stop

And remember it would be impossible to hide them under my armour

When I swim I am constantly moving forward

Moving on

Every kid should be taught to swim

Or at least float

Because no one deserves to drown
