My 31 year old wife told my 2 year old that thunder was from when the clouds bump together. I told her to tell her the truth and she looked at me puzzled, "that's not what happens?" Reddit, what other things were you appalled to learn grown-ass adults still believe?

She thought thunder was the sound of the clouds actually hitting each other in the sky and had no idea it was related to lightning at all.

Edit 3: Obligatory thanks for the front page!

Edit 2: Wow! I'm at work now (third shift) but I look forward to reading all of these on my break!

*edit: I'm really shocked at some of the comments from people thinking that I actually think I'm so smart and my wife is so stupid. Maybe appalled is a strong word to use. It was just a funny moment, simple as that. My wife and I have fun in our marriage. We pick on each other, poke fun, laugh with each other. We genuinely have a good time. Believe me, she calls me on some pretty stupid shit that I do and say as well. It's all in good fun and I love and respect her. She's actually been reading some of the comments over my shoulder and is laughing her ass off. Some people need to lighten up a bit.

My wife can handle herself and is in no danger of being disrespected. She knows how to put me in my place. She doesn't need redditors to white knight for her.
