How to catch people stealing from vehicles

Besides cameras and alarms, anyone in here got any bright ideas on how to catch a thief? I’m thinking about putting an air tag or some type of GPS tracker in my car inside a bag of some sort that has some valuables in it (tempting enough for them to take but not gonna bother me if it’s gone). Curious everyone’s thoughts.
