Bukowski did it right

In my opinion he’s the only one

Everyone else

Tries to be smart

Tries to write good

Bukowski was what he was and never

apologized

He was a bitter selfish prick asshole

No one does what he did

He was a bitter selfish prick asshole

But

He never let go of himself

And people loved him for it

Even when they didn’t

He still was a bitter selfish prick asshole

Purity like that is rare

Truly the only human who I read and think

“He isn’t a total pretentious snob wannabe writer”

He was the real deal

I just read some Bukowski

And even now I’m writing like him

(I never said writing good asshole)

It makes me so mad that I haven’t been able

To be as pure as him

Or maybe I give up on that when people

Give up on me

Right now I’m writing

I think I’m writing for myself

But I don’t know

That’s s what keeps me up at night

It’s so complicated

For Bukowski

It wasn’t

It makes me sick
