Not the best viewing experience, but considering we’re in an IMAX subreddit I posted it anyway for those like me who want to see as much IMAX 70mm footage as possible

Bay clearly didn’t plan these sequences out like Nolan did. This is one of the few films where the aspect ratios changing was jarring.

In this ~5 minute sequence, the aspect ratio switches between 2.39 and 1.43 three times. It’s not that bad, it just seems way more jarring because of the cropped 1.78 footage I included

Transformers 5 is a headache, it switches to like 3-4 different aspect ratios and I was watching the 3d version on a passive 3dtv so the edges sometimes change their aspect ratios which became even worse when combined with actual aspect ratio changes every 5 seconds in this movie

Remember seeing this at Regal Pointe in Orlando. My jaw dropped when it took up the whole screen.

The only sequence in this god awful film that’s worth while.
I saw this in IMAX on opening night and I couldn’t believe how terrible this was.

If you think the aspect ratio changing in this is bad you should see The Last Knight. Even during conversation scenes the ratio can change anywhere between 2.39 to 1.78. Insane.

Thanks! And no, it only switches between 2.39 and 1.43, but I don’t have all of the 1.43 footage available so I interlaced it with the 1.78 IMAX footage from the big-screen Blu-ray

So I bought the TF 5-movie collection hoping the IMAX forest fight scene would be in it Like TDK 4K. I’m so mad rn. It also came with the Blu-ray Disc. Is it in there? Or is it ok the older editions of the Blu-Ray. I hate when movie with IMAX scenes don’t include them in their 4K releases. That’s why I’m not buying DUNE 👎

The second ever mainstream feature to shoot with IMAX 70mm cameras (after The Dark Knight), Revenge of the Fallen permanently put Michael Bay off the idea of using the format again due to the challenges of rendering footage at 4K to satisfy the extreme fidelity of IMAX 70mm film. This clip was put together using various VFX reels, color corrected, and trimmed to the best of my abilities given the few extra seconds of length attached to the IMAX cut of the movie.
