Stay a while.
I know this is the wrong thing to do.
We are now
Me
You
And not
Me & you,
Not us.
But I want you to stay a while.

Hold me like you used to and tell me I’m pretty,
Promise me pretty lies with your pretty eyes and tell me how many dogs were going to get,
Tell me how we’re going to decorate our house,
Tell me I’m your one and only,
Tell me I’m important.
Hold me and tell me everything is ok,
Tell me that you think about me all the time.
Tell me you love me the same way you did when we were kids.
Promise me you’ll never let me go.
Fill my heart with those pretty lies.
False hope is still hope.
Your pretty lies still make me smile a genuine smile,
A smile founded in lies is still a smile.
Tears in the truth are still tears.

I don’t want to cry anymore.
